For the OG Effin B listener, Philip Michael Cohen needs no introduction (he co-hosted the show for 3 seasons along with the hilarious Nikki Fairman). If you’re new to him, congratulations, you get to spend nearly two hours with my dear friend and one of the funniest comics I know. Listen all the way to the end for a very special caller.
I sit down with my friend and celebrated author Laurie Woolever to discuss her brand new NYT Bestselling memoir ‘Care and Feeding’. Woolever is a longtime journalist and cookbook author who also worked as an assistant to Mario Batali and then Anthony Bourdain. We discuss what moved her to write such a compelling and page-turning memoir and get into the heartbreaking and electrifying complexity of her star-studded and chaotic career. If you haven’t read her memoir, I highly suggest you stop what you’re doing and remedy that immediately.
I sit down with the magnificent Sohla-El-Waylly at Blue Bicycle Books in Charleston SC during Charleston Wine and Food to discuss her game-changing cookbook “Start Here: Instructions for Becoming a Better Cook”. We discuss why she was disappointed with Culinary School, how she got fired from the Cheesecake Factory and what it’s like to create food content at the highest level while being a new mom. I am in awe of Sohla for so many reasons and I am thrilled to share this very fun chat with all of you. Go get her book, if you haven’t already.

NOTE: This is a live podcast so you’ll hear the audience in the background and some fun questions at the end. The questions themselves can be a little hard to hear but the answers are worth leaving in.
I have the amazing honor of interviewing two very talented artists (who also happen to be my friends): Isabel Bornstein and Laura Lee Robinson. Their exhibition “The Snippy Show” opened last week at Hed Hi Studios in Charleston SC and we talk about the process, the concept, and the making of the work.
This was originally recorded in 2019 at my Grandfather’s home in Goose Creek. I sit down to interview William Dale Ribbeck aka ‘Papa Dale’ and we discuss his big life as a sailor in the United States Navy. He retired as a distinguished Master Diver and his impact on my life is immeasurable. He passed away peacefully in his sleep last night and I am sharing this episode again as a comfort to myself and the many many many people who loved him. When I moved to New York in my early twenties he left me with this advice and I think we can all use it.
“Keep your nose clean ands don’t take no wooden nickels.”
My guest today is the hilarious Landon Bryant, known for is Instagram account @landontalks where he breaks down customs, sayings, foods and feelings unique to the South. His wildly funny videos explain things like “what is piddlin’ or what it means to “take to the bed.” In this episode he candidly shares what the best part about his overnight success is and if you love this episode you should go see him do stand-up LIVE Sunday Night July 21st, @ The Wits End in North Charleston. The first show is sold out but they added a second show at 9:00pm with the option for a meet and greet!! GO GET TICKETS. His jokes are even sweeter in person.
Special thanks to Nameless NumberHead and Terri K. for making this recording possible. ❤
